Phishing

We looked at phishing websites and what they are - they are cloned sites that look identical to the real thing but the domain is diffrent and when you login to a phishing site they take your login details and bank details if they are entered in the site the domain www.ebay.co.uk could easily be cloned and a phisihing site couls be made at www.eebay.co.uk and 9 times out of 10 people dont realise untill its to late

Viruses

Today we were asked to look at all the different kinds of viruses there is out there we look at information about mail bombs , time bombs , and trojens and how they affect diffrent parts of the users pc and time bombs that set a program to do something to the users pc at a certain time and date

Proxy Servers

Today i was asked to look at 2 proxy servers but ran into a few problems as every website with the topic "proxy" is blocked by the college web server

Spam Filters

today i was asked to look at spam filters http://www.spamihilator.com/ & http://www.spamweed.com/ i compared the both and seen what 1 of the 2 offered the best in blocking unwanted spam spamihilator was free but only offered a few scanning tools where as spamweed had a free trial with the option to buy with more scanning tools and spam blockers.

Virtual PC

Today in class we looked at a few free anti virus scanners that are available on the internet such as Avast , AVG , Comodo , Kaspersky , Avira and Cyber Hawk and installed them on virtual pc and configured them

Firewall

Today we looked at comodo firewall and windows firewall and configured them and had a look at the ports and how to block ports from intruders and limit access to files and folders and ftp access so that hackers cant get into the pc

Internet Saftey

Today in class we learned about virtual pc and we were looking at installing antivirus and anti spyware on virtual pc

we also done some revision for the exam
